Eligible applicants must:
- Be a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Currently work in a media outlet as a journalist, reporter, or editor;
- Plan to continue employment in the media field for at least 6 months after completion of this program;
- Have at least two years’ experience producing written or broadcast news reports;
- Speak and read English at an Upper Intermediate or Advanced level (all classes and class assignments will be in English);
You are not eligible if:
- Have previously studied in the United States on a U.S. Government-funded scholarship;
- Are an employee, a relative of employee, or a former employee (since 2013) of the U.S. Government;
- Are an employee of a media outlet not based in Kazakhstan;
- Are employed in a position other than media production.
Selection procedures:
Submit your application in English using this form. Once submitted, Embassy staff will review all complete applications. The Embassy will inform unsuccessful applicants by December 31, 2016.
If they have not already demonstrated proficiency in English, short-listed candidates may be asked to pass an English test at the Embassy. The Embassy reserves the right to conduct interviews with potential candidates, to assess both spoken English and suitability for the program. Successful applicants will be notified no later than December 30, 2015.
